Yoga started in India and was used by both Hinduism and Buddhism. They might not have been aware of the great workout that it provided but they did know that it could calm the body and allow the spirit and body to achieve more unity. The same applies to any yoga workout today. Our bodies can cause us pain if we do not treat them the way they should be treated. Many injuries occur because the muscles are not flexible enough for certain activities. Our muscles need to be put under stress in order to gain strength and under tension in order to gain flexibility. Many people have bodies with very little range of motion because our daily lives don’t require us to do anything but sit in front of a computer screen and type all day. Yoga is the ideal workout routine for our day and age. It is age friendly, meaning that anyone at any age can benefit from it. It is gender-friendly because both men and women alike can benefit from the exercises performed. More and more males are taking up yoga and they now even make men’s yoga pants for any guy that wants to pursue yoga. You don’t need any special equipment for yoga, just a yoga mat and your yoga workout clothes will do. Physical activity is it at a minimum in our generation and many people don’t want to go to the gym because they don’t know what to do or they hate running on treadmills. Yoga is great because you have an instructor that is trained to help you and teach you step by step. Never feel that you are not good enough, strong enough, or flexible enough to try yoga. Yoga classes are offered at almost every gym.
